EnergyShare

To make sure the elderly, ill and those facing financial hardship are not forgotten, Dominion Virginia Power, Dominion North Carolina Power and Dominion East Ohio created EnergyShare. You can help — as an individual or as a company.

If you have no where else to turn to keep warm this winter or cool in the summer, EnergyShare may be able to help.

If you know of someone who lives in the electric or gas service area who is in danger of losing an important heating or cooling source, who is experiencing a personal crisis, and who has exhausted or doesn't qualify for federal fuel help, they may be a candidate for EnergyShare assistance. To apply in Virginia and North Carolina, view our list for the designated EnergyShare agency nearest you. Dominion East Ohio customers can contact their local Salvation Army office to apply. Cooling assistance is only available in Virginia.

EnergyShare is a fuel assistance program of last resort for the elderly, the ill and anyone who faces financial hardships from unemployment or family crisis. It provides heating assistance in the cold winter months and cooling assistance in the heat of summer. It pays for any heating source: oil, gas, kerosene, wood, and electricity.  In the summer months, assistance is available to seniors to cool their homes. Payments go directly to energy vendors on behalf of those helped, and every cent donated goes to benefit the needy because Dominion pays for the program's administrative expenses.

Funds come from tax-deductible donations from customers, stockholders, employees, EnergyShare Partners, and Dominion. Last year, people like you donated more than $1 million to help people survive the cold. Funds are distributed through a network of nonprofit health and human service agencies.

Contributing is Easy

If you are a Dominion electric customer, the easiest way to contribute is simply to add $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $25, or $35 to the amount due on your electric bill. The computer automatically recognizes overpayments in these exact amounts as a contribution and documents your contribution on your next bill. Or, mail your check for any amount (made payable to "EnergyShare") to EnergyShare, P.O. Box 11186, Richmond, VA 23230-1186. In North Carolina, the mailing address is EnergyShare, P.O. Box 370, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870-0370.

If you are a Dominion East Ohio customer, the easiest way to contribute is simply to add $1, $2, $6, $12, $18, or $36 to the amount due on your gas bill. The computer automatically recognizes overpayments in these exact amounts as a contribution and documents your contribution on your next bill. Or, mail your check for any amount, made payable to "EnergyShare," to EnergyShare, The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 5847, Cleveland, OH 44101.
