Power is one of the nation's 10 largest investor-owned electric utilities.
We deliver power to more than 2 million homes and businesses in Virginia
and North Carolina and are active nationally in wholesale power sales
and energy services. Our service area spans an economically healthy region
from Northern Virginia to northeastern North Carolina.
In Virginia, we trade under the name Dominion Virginia Power.
The Virginia service area comprises about 65 percent of Virginia's total land
area, but accounts for over 80 percent of its population.
In North Carolina, we trade under the name Dominion North
Carolina Power and serve retail customers located in the northeastern region
of the state, excluding certain municipalities.
We also engage in off-system wholesale purchases and sales
of electricity and purchases and sales of natural gas and are developing trading
relationships beyond the geographic limits of our retail service territory.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the North Carolina
Utilities Commission are the principal regulators of our electric operations.
