Huntingtown High School, $9,600, to enhance environmental sciences by incorporating technology into the classroom. Students will evaluate the interrelationships between humans and the environment, and as a result become more informed and active environmental stewards.
Calvert County Public Schools, $7,600, to study electricity and energy conservation. Each 4th grade class will choose an energy problem to research, and then create a display with tips and solutions. These presentations will be shared with parents and the community.
College of Southern Maryland, La Plata, $10,000 to sponsor the FIRST Lego League’s Tournament in Southern Maryland. Sponsorship will allow 20 additional teams to participate in this year’s challenge, "Climate Connections."
