Student Writing Contest

2008 Winners

As part of the Strong Men & Women program, students in Virginia, North Carolina, and high schools in Ohio's Cleveland, East Cleveland, Euclid and Warrensville Heights School districts were invited to submit essays about their African-American role models, and how those men and women have influenced them.

The essays were judged, and those selected as winners from Dominion's Virginia, North Carolina and Ohio operating regions are listed below. Click on the title of any essay to read about that young person's relationship to a strong man or woman.

View a video of the students reading their essays. The viewer features a menu that enables you to select from six different videos.
