Underground Lines and Substation Upgrades |
Dominion Virginia Power is committed to providing safe and reliable power to customers, and this sometimes requires the construction of additional electric facilities. In northern Arlington County, redevelopment is increasing electrical demands. Several of our existing substations require alternative sources of power to increase reliability, and the Clarendon area requires additional substation facilities to meet the growing demand for power. |

Project Description
The first phase of the project includes the new 230 kV underground line and the new Wilson Blvd. substation, and is scheduled to be completed by May 2008 (pending receipt of required permits from Arlington County). The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) has authorized construction of the 230 kV underground line between the Nelson St. and Wilson Blvd substations.
