SCC Application Process
Carson-Suffolk 500 kV Line and
Suffolk-Thrasher 230 kV Line

SCC Process

The State Corporation Commission (SCC) approves all electric transmission facilities of 150,000 volts (150 kV) or more in Virginia, which includes this project. After the Company files its application, the SCC will issue an order setting the procedural schedule. The SCC will require Dominion to publish the order in local area newspapers and write notification letters, including the dates and locations of any public hearings and the dates the company and interested parties (Respondents) must file testimony. A SCC Hearing Examiner typically serves as a judge at the hearings. Afterwards, the Hearing Examiner will issue a report to the three SCC Commissioners. The Commissioners will review all of the evidence and the Hearing Examiner’s recommendation before deciding.
