Virginia’s Loudoun County is the fastest growing county in the nation. Dominion will build a transmission line to make sure all the new homes and businesses in Loudoun will have electricity.
The new 230 kV transmission line will extend from Dominion’s existing Pleasant View Substation located east of Leesburg off Cochran Mill Road to a new substation site northwest of Hamilton, near the intersection of Berlin Turnpike and Rt. 7.
Need For The Project
To meet the growing demand for electricity in western Loudoun County, Dominion Virginia Power needs to build a new 230,000-volt (230 kV) transmission line to serve the Purcellville Load Area. This area west of Leesburg includes Purcellville, Hamilton and Round Hill.
The Purcellville Load Area is presently served by the Company with four distribution lines (34.5 kV); two from Lovettesville Substation, one from Millville Substation in West Virginia and one from Middleburg Substation. The new 230 kV transmission line and substation will provide a new energy source to the area by May 2010.

Approval Process
On February 15, 2008 the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) issued a Final Order approving the Pleasant View-Hamilton 230 kV Transmission Line and 230 kV-34.5 kV Hamilton Substation.
