Call Before You Dig,
It's The Law
Printer Version Print-Friendly Version

All states provide a One-Call communication system that provides one telephone number for excavation contractors and the general public to call for notification of their intent to use equipment for excavating, blasting, tunneling, or other similar work.

If you plan work that will disturb the earth, it is the law to call one of the one-call notification systems for FREE location services. An accident involving a pipeline could be costly and dangerous. If you disturb the pipeline, corrosion or other damage to these facilities could eventually occur.

Determine the location of underground facilities by calling the one-call notification system in the state where your work is to take place. Please call three working days prior to the start of the project for this free service.

When calling for assistance in locating underground facilities, be prepared to give:

  1. Your name
  2. Your telephone number
  3. The company you represent (if applicable)
  4. The location of the work
  5. The type of project
  6. The date and time the project is scheduled to begin
  7. Whether or not you’ll be using explosives

This information will be immediately transmitted via electronic equipment for prompt action.
