North Branch Power Station, located on 287 acres in Bayard, West Virginia, produces enough electricity to power about 18,500 homes, using waste coal as its primary fuel.
North Branch consists of a single 74-megawatt coal-fired generating unit that began commercial operation in 1992.
The station powers the steam turbine generator with two circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers.
The steam cycle is cooled using an air-cooled condenser that eliminates the thermal discharge to water.
