Fluorescent lamps that screw into standard incandescent
fixtures are available. Where aesthetic considerations allow it, this is a very
simple way of increasing efficiency and extending lamp life.
Compact fluorescent lamps typically use 75 percent less
energy than incandescent lamps for the same light output. They also have over
10 times the lamp life of an incandescent lamp.
