How many blocks of energy may I purchase?
If you sign up for the option priced at $4.00 per block, you may add as many blocks as you like. If you choose the option priced at $2.50 per block, you must add a minimum of 100 blocks, which would be $250.00.

Is my contribution to NC GreenPower tax deductible?
Yes, contributions to NC GreenPower are tax deductible. You should retain your monthly bills for your tax records.

Top

Does my contribution to NC GreenPower offset my regular electric bill?
No, it is in addition to your regular bill. This is a voluntary contribution to help protect the environment. The blocks you add are used to purchase green power, which is more expensive than energy from fossil fuels. That is why your payment to NC GreenPower is tax deductible.

How does the green power get to my home?
When you contribute to NC GreenPower, you are not actually purchasing the energy for your home. Each block purchased means that 100 kilowatt-hours of energy produced by burning fossil fuels will be replaced by 100 kilowatt-hours of energy produced from cleaner, greener renewable energy sources.

How will I pay for my block contributions?
Once you sign-up to contribute to NC GreenPower, you will be billed the additional amount on your regular monthly Dominion North Carolina Power bill and make one payment to Dominion North Carolina Power.

Can I contribute directly to the NC GreenPower program?
Yes. Dominion North Carolina Power cannot process a direct contribution, but NC GreenPower can. Please visit www.NCGreenPower.org to get instructions for making a direct contribution.

Do I have to purchase all of my power through the NC GreenPower program? If I don't use 100 kilowatt-hours during a month, what happens to the extra kilowatt-hours I purchased through the GreenPower program?
You do not have to purchase enough NC GreenPower to cover your monthly usage. The number of blocks purchased is not directly related to the amount of energy you actually use. You would be billed for the energy you use and for the number of blocks you have decided to purchase through the NC GreenPower program.

Can I buy part of a block?
The program is limited to the purchase of whole blocks. Partial blocks cannot be purchased.

Top

If I sign up for this program, when will it start and how long will it last?
