Since some Virginia customers can now choose who supplies
a portion of their Electric Service, Dominion Virginia Power has two separate
rate schedule categories: Bundled Rates and
Unbundled Rates.
The Electric Service a customer receives is separated into
supply (generation and transmission) and delivery (distribution).
Supply may be purchased from a supplier other than Dominion Virginia Power.
Delivery will continue to be provided by Dominion Virginia Power, regardless
of the supplier.
Bundled Rate Schedules serve Virginia customers who
purchase both the supply and delivery portions of their Electric
Service as a bundled service from Dominion Virginia Power.
Unbundled Rate Schedules serve Virginia customers who
purchase only the delivery portion of their Electric Service from Dominion Virginia
Power. These customers will purchase the supply portion of their Electric Service
from a supplier other than Dominion Virginia Power. The Unbundled Rate Schedules
include the charges from Dominion Virginia Power only for the delivery
of electricity. They may also include competitive transition charges which allow
Dominion Virginia Power the opportunity to recover past generation investments
(i.e., power plants) made when it expected to serve both the supply and delivery
portions of Electric Service for all customers.
