• Edison Electric Institute — 2006
National Supplier Diversity Excellence Award for comprehensive
efforts to create and develop business opportunities for minority and
women-owned business enterprises.
• Diversity/Careers Magazine — 2007
Best Diversity Company Award for support of minorities and women,
attention to work/life balance and commitment to supplier diversity.
• Central Virginia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis
Society — 2007 Hope Award for employee
volunteer leadership in serving the community.
• The Elizabeth River Project — 2007
Model Level Award for exceptional environmental stewardship in
pollution prevention, wildlife habitat management and mentoring programs
at the company’s Chesapeake Energy Center.
• The Massachusetts Corporate Wetlands Partnership
and Coastal America 2006 Environmental Stewardship
Award for support of the "Labor-in-Vain
|
Brook" wetlands restoration
project near the company’s Brayton Point Power Station in Somerset,
Mass.
• West Virginia State Council of Trout Unlimited
— 2005 Silver Trout Award for outstanding volunteer
service at Seneca Rocks, W. Va., and Rich Creek, Va., two of the most
scenic locations in the Appalachian Mountains. This was only the second
time the award has been given to a private business in the past 30 years.
• U. S. Department of Defense – 2007
5-Star Employer Award for exceptional support of company employees
called to active duty in the National Guard or Reserve.
• The United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg, Va. — 2006 Investment Award for contributing more than
$500,000 and for providing outstanding leadership to improve the quality
of life in central Virginia.
• State of West Virginia — 2005 Most
Improved Award for refurbishing the North Branch Power Station,
installing proper water discharge controls and air pollution controls
and for addressing other environmental concerns that went uncorrected
by the station’s previous owner. |
