Dominion Volunteers Pitch In To Help Environment
RICHMOND, Va. -- From Texas to Connecticut, Dominion employees
in eight states will pull on work gloves and head out to parks and natural areas
as part of the company’s second “Putting our Energy to Work for the Environment”
campaign.
More than 650 employees are planning to participate in the
weeklong program, which targets clean-up, repair and construction projects at
parks and natural areas in communities where Dominion operates. The projects
are slated to begin Oct. 9 in Virginia and West Virginia and conclude Oct. 12
in Ohio.
“Dominion is proud of its reputation as a sound environmental
steward,” said Thos. E. Capps, chairman, president and chief executive officer.
“A lot of the credit for that achievement goes to our employees, who take a
keen interest in protecting our natural resources both on and off the job. Our
employees know the needs of their communities and selected these projects based
on their environmental improvements and benefit to the general public.”
This year, the overall effort was expanded to eight states
from five last year and to 13 projects as compared to seven last year. Projects
selected by employees include building vehicle bridges for park employees, constructing
a canoe storage shed, removing invasive plants, making handicapped access trails

Dominion supported the employees’ volunteer effort by paying
for materials and providing tools and equipment.
