Dominion Honors Houston Employee As A Volunteer
of The Year
HOUSTON - Dominion has honored Linda Jessett
of Houston as one of the company's 2002 Volunteers of the Year for the countless
hours of time and talent she has given assisting both children and senior citizens.
Jessett was one of 17 Dominion employees honored at an annual volunteer recognition
ceremony April 1 in Richmond.
As an active volunteer at Mountbatten House,
an elderly care facility, Jessett has served on the board of directors for 14
years. She has held the position of president for two terms, and has been treasurer
for three.
Jessett also volunteers with the "Business
Partners in Education" program for the Houston
Independent School District. She serves as a tutor and helps raise funds
for much-needed school supplies including books, computers and testing materials.
She received an Apple Pin, which honors outstanding business volunteers, from
Fairchild Elementary School.
The children's programs at the M.D.
Anderson Cancer Center and Depelchin
Children's Home benefit from Jessett's caring and activism as well. Last
year, she handled fundraising for Dominion's Texas employees who were impacted
by severe flooding.
The Dominion Foundation will contribute $1,000
to Mountbatten House in Jessett's honor for being selected a "Volunteer
of the Year." Mountbatten House is a type "A" large assisted
living home that provides subsidized care to low-income seniors who are no longer
able to live alone. Jessett indicated that the funds will be used for improvements
to the showers at the facility.
