Virginia Power Expects to Restore Power To All Customers
Today
RICHMOND, Va. -- With fewer than 6,500 customers remaining
without electricity as a result of the Super Bowl Sunday ice storm, Virginia
Power expects to finish its repair effort Wednesday evening.
"We have dedicated our entire storm workforce of 2,500
linemen, tree trimmers and contractors to the task of getting these final customers
back on line," said Tom Hyman, senior vice president-Electric Distribution.
"All of the 600 jobs that remain have been assigned to crews."
The storm caused damage to more than 5,000 locations in the
hard-hit, greater Richmond area. Crews, which have worked around the clock since
the storm struck, have restored power to more than a quarter-million customers.
In all, about 285,000 customers were affected by the ice storm.
Customers can report outages or downed lines by calling,
toll-free, 1-888-667-3000.
Virginia Power is the principal subsidiary of Dominion
Resources Inc. (NYSE: D), an energy company with headquarters in Richmond.
