Dominion Energy Names Lead Site Executive
at Millstone
RICHMOND, Va. -- William R. Matthews, vice president-Nuclear
Operations for Dominion Energy, will become the lead executive at Millstone
Power Station following the close of the sale of the Connecticut station by
Northeast Utilities (NYSE: NU) to Dominion (NYSE: D), the company announced
Wednesday.
Matthews, 53, succeeds Lee J. Olivier, senior vice president
and chief nuclear officer-Millstone for Northeast Utilities. Olivier had been
expected to remain in his Millstone capacity for Dominion, but he informed the
company that he was resigning from Northeast Utilities to pursue other challenges
and would not be joining Dominion.
"We are disappointed that Lee has decided not to remain at
Millstone, but we wish him well," said Thomas F. Farrell II, chief executive
officer of Dominion Energy. "Through the efforts of Millstone's employees and
under Lee's leadership for the past 2 1/2 years, Millstone is once again a reliable
nuclear power station."
Matthews, a 25-year veteran of Dominion's nuclear program,
will be responsible for all aspects of the Millstone station. Since May 2000,
Matthews has been responsible for the operations of Dominion's two Virginia
nuclear power stations, North Anna and Surry. Among his many Dominion positions,
he was station manager and site vice president at North Anna for four years
prior to being named vice president-Nuclear Operations. Matthews will report
to David A. Christian, senior vice president and chief nuclear officer of Dominion
Energy.
"Bill has been a valuable member of our nuclear team and
a driving force behind the safe and superior performances of North Anna and
Surry. Our Virginia stations are recognized as leaders in our industry for safe,
efficient operations," Farrell said.
