Dominion East Ohio Crews Restoring Service in Powhatan Point Following Temporary Gas Flow Interruption

Dominion East Ohio customer service representatives will be working into the night to restore service for 600 to 700 Powhatan Point area customers affected by a temporary natural gas disruption. Company officials said they are still investigating the cause of the interruption.

The problem has been corrected, according to an interstate pipeline representative. Dominion East Ohio has dispatched additional customer service representatives from other areas of the company to the affected area, first, to shut off service, as a safety precaution, and then to relight appliances. The company notes that Dominion East Ohio representatives need to gain access to customers’ homes to reestablish service.

Earlier today, the company asked affected customers who are home to turn on their front porch lights, so customer service crews can spot them more readily and restore service more rapidly.

If any customers in the affected area should experience discomfort due to the weather, they may contact the Belmont County Emergency Management Agency, (740) 695-5984, for temporary relocation assistance.
