Prospective Homeowners Get Additional Support
From Dominion Peoples
PITTSBURGH - Dominion
Peoples announced today they would support a series of home buying workshops
for prospective new homeowners. A $5,000 grant from Dominion Peoples will be
used for workshops that are organized and held at Neighborhood Housing Services,
Inc. of Pittsburgh (NHS).
Through a series of workshop classes held monthly, new homeowners
are exposed to timely information regarding homeownership. Topics covered in
the workshops include: pre-purchase education, mortgage financing, housing and
credit worthiness and post-purchase counseling, which cover utility awareness
and conservation.
"Purchasing a home is a serious commitment," noted
Lavette Bivins, interim executive director of NHS. "For those who are looking
to become first time homebuyers, it can be a rewarding experience. Dominion's
financial support enables us to continue these workshops and help individuals
understand the important issues involved when considering a home."
The grant was made possible through the Dominion Foundation,
which is dedicated to the economic, physical and social health of the communities
served by Dominion companies.
Locally, Dominion Peoples serves over 351,000 residential,
commercial and industrial customers in southwestern Pennsylvania.
