RICHMOND, Va. – Dominion (NYSE: D) announced
today that it has secured firm, long-term commitments to receive natural
gas supplies from a new pipeline, Rockies Express (REX), and deliver it to
major natural gas markets in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
Dominion’s project, named Dominion Hub I, is
the first transportation project to provide firm access from the REX pipeline
to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
"We are proud to offer
Rocky Mountain basin producers market access for this new gas supply," said
Gary Sypolt, president of Dominion Transmission. "The
robust Dominion natural gas pipeline and storage grid ensures that REX shippers
will have year-round access to local distributors, industrial consumers and
power generation markets throughout the eastern seaboard.”
The cornerstone
of the Dominion Hub I project is an agreement to transport natural gas from
Ohio to the Dominion market area. Subject
to regulatory approvals, Dominion expects to complete related facility construction
and begin firm service in November 2009.
