Connecting Your Equipment to Surge Protection Devices

Here are some simple instructions to help you install your surge protection equipment. If you have questions, e-mail us or call us toll-free at 1-888-284-3561.

Wall-Mount & Plug-Strip Devices

1. Plug the protector directly into the wall socket.

2. Plug in the item(s) you want protected into the surge protection device.

3. If the surge protector has telephone protection, plug in the supplied phone cord from your wall phone jack to the surge protector "input" jack. Plug the cord from your phone into the "output" jack.

4. If the surge protector has coax cable protection, connect the coax cable from the outside antenna to the "input" jack and your TV's coax cable to the "output" jack.

5. Turn the power switch "ON". The indicator lights should be on after the unit has been installed.

Tips and Troubleshooting:

  • If the indicator lights don't work, the problem could be in your home's wiring. Use another protector to see if the same problem occurs. If so, you may want to call an electrician to determine the problem.
  • Incorrect grounding or the lack of grounding can render the protector ineffective. Proper grounding is important to prevent shock.
  • Surge protection products are designed for indoor use. Avoid areas with large moisture content (such as basements). If you need to use an extension cord to supply power to the equipment, the surge protector must be plugged into the extension cord and the equipment to be protected must be plugged directly into the surge protector.
  • Important: Never install phone cords or coax cables during thunderstorms.
