In the 11th annual survey conducted by US Black Engineer & Information Technology (USBE & IT) magazine, Dominion is recognized as one of the 2013 Top Supporters of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and minority-serving institutions. The survey was completed by the engineering school deans of the ABET-accredited engineering programs and the corporate-academic alliance members of Advancing Minorities’ Interest in Engineering (AMIE).
Career Communications Group, Inc. (CCG) publishes US Black Engineer & Information Technology.
CCG also publishes Women of Color and Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazines, and produces the annual BEYA STEM Global Competitiveness Conference and the National Women of Color Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Awards Conference.
Military Times EDGE, a national publication dedicated to showing military members, veterans, and their families the practical and positive actions that can make their lives and careers better both in the military and beyond, recognizes Dominion as #35 on the 2013 Military Times EDGE "Best for Vets Employer" list. Companies on the Fortune 1000, the Defense News 100 and Federal Times’ General Services Administration 250 lists were surveyed and evaluated.
Dominion won the second annual "Young Professional Workplace Award" in November 2009, presented by Helping Young Professionals Engage, or HYPE. The group is an initiative by the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce designed to attract and retain young professionals at area companies. (> Learn more.)
In presenting the award, HYPE cited Dominion's competitive salaries for new employees, as well as its mentoring programs and flexible work schedules. More than a fourth of the company's 4,600 employees in the Richmond area are younger than 40.
Thirty-five companies were nominated for the award, and the winner was chosen from five finalists.
In October 2010, G.I. Jobs, a national magazine that assists military members, veterans, and spouses in their search for civilian employment, selected Dominion as a Top 100 Military Friendly Employer for 2011. More than 5,000 companies were considered, with Dominion placing in the top 2 percent of all employers nationwide. Dominion was also recognized as a Top 100 Military Friendly Employer for 2010. Dominion was featured in BusinessWeek's list of "The Best Places to Launch a Career," in their September 15, 2008 issue.

Dominion was awarded the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award in 2008, the highest recognition given to employers for their support of employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. The company was one of 15 employers recognized by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense. (> News release)
The award is the highest in a series of ESGR awards that also includes the Patriot Award, the Above and Beyond Award and the Pro Patria Award. Dominion previously received those awards.
The Pro Patria Award 2008 recognizes outstanding support and dedication to employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.
The 2008 Diversity Excellence Award (large category) was presented by The Richmond Human Resources Management Association and The Greater Richmond Chamber.
The 2008 HR Process Excellence or Re-Engineering (large category) award was presented by The Richmond Human Resources Management Association and The Greater Richmond Chamber.
The 2007 Best Diversity Company Award was presented by Diversity/Careers Magazine, for support of minorities and women, attention to work/life balance and commitment to supplier diversity.
