The Gatekeeper Program
Our employees take the time to notice when someone needs help. When we notice changes such as a well-groomed yard suddenly neglected or newspapers piling up on the porch, we'll notify a local referral agency. The agency investigates the situation and gets the proper help.
We change meters to prevent problems. When our meters reach a certain age (depending on the model), we replace them at no charge.
At your request, we'll send you special postcards to use when you read your meter for us.
We do random changes to find out if a particular model of meter is working as expected. We don't charge you for these changes.
Large Print Bills
Upon request, we'll provide certified visually-impaired customers with large-print bills.
Other Customer Services
The Customer Service people who visit your home or office are available to assist you from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday - Friday. Services free of charge include:
Installing a thermostat for the vision impaired. These special units are available through local Sight Centers.
Raise the markings on range and oven controls to make them easier to use for visually impaired customers.
Adding odorant to gas. Dominion Hope adds a special odorant to give natural gas a distinctive smell. With this special odor, gas leaks are easy to detect.
Gas leak detection. Leaks can happen in our main lines, your service line or house line. If you suspect a leak, no matter what the source, call us immediately--day or night. We also patrol over 18,000 miles of our underground pipelines, looking for leaks. If a leak is found, our representatives will show you proof, but it's your responsibility to have it repaired or replaced if it's on your property.
